Actress Isabelle Nanty has never hidden her aversion to nightlife and alcohol. But few people know the origin of this rejection. In an interview given to our colleagues at 7 Days she reveals a tragedy that occurred in 1970, when she was eight years old. That year, someone close to the actress died in particularly tragic circumstances. A drama which left an eternal imprint in the memory of the 62-year-old actress.

“Educated in the obsession with nightclubs”

In his testimony, the star of Key 5the first teaser of which was revealed, explains the reasons which kept her away from nightclubs and the party life:

I will disappoint you. Little 1, I’m allergic to alcohol, I try to get drunk, it’s a bit like our job, but there comes a time when I have to leave the party, because I’m too quirky.

But beyond this allergy, it was a family drama that left its mark on her. She confides:

My godfather’s daughter died in a nightclub fireon 5-7, in Saint-Laurent-du-Pont, a big news item from the 70s.

This deep-rooted memory influenced his perception of nightclubs:

I was little, and the stories had an impact on me. When I was old enough to go clubbing, my parents made such a face! I’ve been there twice in my life, but still stuck to the emergency exits : there’s a more fun atmosphere!

A tragedy that shook

The fire at 5-7 is one of the most dramatic in the history of nightclubs in France. On the night of November 1, 1970, more than 200 young people gathered for a concert. The fire spread quickly due to highly flammable decorations. Emergency exits, condemned to avoid free ridersprevented the evacuation of the premises.

The toll is appalling: 146 victims, aged 14 to 25, were burned or asphyxiated. The investigation will reveal serious safety code violations. The last manager of the club will be sentenced to 18 months in prison, including six months, and the supplier of the decorations, to 4 months suspended. This tragedy shocked Isabelle Nanty to the point of shaping part of her life and her choices. Refusing social outings, she devoted herself fully to her career, keeping in mind this tragedy which marked her childhood.
