This Thursday, January 2, Lorraine is covered in snow. In places, it persists on the ground. Météo France places the Grand Est on yellow “ice snow” vigilance for tonight and until midday tomorrow. The prefecture of Meurthe-et- indicates that the Pays Haut and Lunévillois are particularly concerned. Due to the low temperatures expected overnight, a risk of refreezing on wet roads as well as fog on the heights is expected for Friday morning.

Internet users are following the progress of the disruption. In Moselle, one of them indicates around 3:30 p.m.: “ the snow is falling well! The disturbance continues its path, and snow increasingly replaces rain as it moves towards the southeast of the region. In the coming hours, snow will fall in the south of the region, at increasingly lower altitudes, including in the Vosges valleys.“.

Salt spreaders will be deployed in these departments. Please note that it is prohibited to overtake salting vehicles. The latter often travel at a reduced speed to ensure uniform distribution of salt on the roadway. Overtaking these vehicles can lead to dangerous maneuvers, especially on slippery and snowy roads. Additionally, salt and other materials used can be thrown off vehicle wheels, which can damage cars and further reduce visibility.

Strong winds and snowfall have forced several ski resorts in the Vosges massif to close.

Difficult weather conditions require increased caution for road users. It is advisable to consult the various road stakeholders such as, the prefectures on social networks or even certain “web cams” to check the conditions on the roads. .
