And driver was sentenced this Thursday, January 2, 2025 to one year in prison by the Bayonne court after having refused to comply during a police check in Bayonne a few hours before the start of the new year.
Driving dangerously
The police noticed the strange behavior of a vehicle not far from them. They therefore decided to carry out an inspection of the latter but everything did not go as planned. It was the CRS motorcyclists who came to reinforce the Basque Coast who arrested the driver. The chase lasted several minutes and the driver, aged 32, took all the risks between Bayonne and Anglet.
He drove at high speed, in the wrong direction and ran several red lights in an attempt to escape the police who ended up taking out their service weapons in order to force him to stop. He had previously refused to stop despite the flashing lights and screaming sirens.
“Irresponsible” behavior
The police discovered that the individual, well known to the courts for multiple acts, was drunk and driving without a license to drive when arrested. The Bayonne court followed the indictment of the public prosecutor who spoke of “irresponsible” behavior. He was therefore sentenced to 12 months in prison and banned for one year from retaking his driving license. The individual was immediately taken into custody following his trial.
