The attacking midfielder Dani Olmo and the attacker Hi Victorrecruited by the FC Barcelona last summer, were no longer on the list of players from the Catalan club who could play in La Liga on Wednesday.
The organizers of the Liga announced that the Barça does not meet the financial conditions for both players to continue participating in the Spanish Championshipand had not “presented an alternative” allowing it to register them in accordance with its economic control regulations.
On the other hand, the Danish defender Andreas Christenseninjured during the first part of the season, returned to the squad Barça available to play the League.
Riddled with debt, the Catalan club had signed Elm until December 31, 2024 with 80% of the salary of Christensenthanks to an exception which allows clubs to replace players absent for long periods.
Due to spending limits set by the Spanish football league, Olmo was playing on a temporary basis until Barça resolved his financial problems.
The possible free departure of the Spanish international, recruited for around 60 million euros, would be a hard sporting and financial blow for Barça, currently third in La Liga and second in the group stage of the Champions League.
