While Brice Samba is getting closer to Rennes, where he should find Seko Fofana, RC Lens was looking for a goalkeeper. And according to information from Sacha Tavolieri and Foot Marketthe identity of the lucky winner is now known.
RC Lens is banking on a downgraded goalkeeper
After Hervé Koffi, RC Lens is about to secure the services of another former LOSC goalkeeper, still from Belgium. As revealed by Sacha Tavioleri, Jean Butez is about to join the Artesian club for a period of three and a half years and against a transfer fee of three million euros. For seven years, first on loan to Mouscron (2017/2020) then in Antwerp for four years, the former resident of the LOSC training center made a name for himself on the other side of the border.
Author of the double in 2023, Jean Butez also has some references in the European Cup with 7 Champions League matches and 13 Europa League matches. However, the year 2024 was less convincing for the 29-year-old goalkeeper, supplanted by the emergence of Senne Lammens, who pushed him to the sidelines. Enough to encourage his transfer to Lens where he should find himself in competition with Hervé Koffiwho took over in the Mouscron goal in 2020.
This transfer having been confirmed, RC Lens should therefore resolve to let it slip away. Brice Sambafor which an agreement exists with Rennes on the basis of a transfer of 15 million euros, excluding bonuses. That's a net profit of around 10 million euros which should delight the club's accountant. It remains to be seen whether the 2023 French vice-champion has not weakened sportingly in this double operation.
