A 15-year-old teenager died on New Year’s Eve in .

The latter died of his injuries after being hit by a car.

The driver, who had fled, presented himself at the police station on Wednesday evening.

It was around one o’clock in the morning on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday when this 15-year-old teenager was violently hit by a car, in the Cité de l’Ill district, in Strasbourg. Despite the intervention of emergency services and transport of the injured person to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The man driving the vehicle involved fled immediately after the collision. He has been actively sought ever since. He finally went himself on Wednesday evening to the central police station of the Bas-Rhin commune and was placed in police custody, the LCI-TF1 editorial team learned this Thursday morning from a police source. The prosecution confirmed the information shortly after, specifying that it would not make any communication before the outcome of the measure.

A tribute this Thursday to the deceased young man

“I send my condolences to the loved ones of the young man who died in the night. All light must be shed on the circumstances of this tragedy, and everything possible must be done to find its perpetrator”wrote the mayor of Strasbourg, Jeanne Barseghian, in a press release.

“The unrest that persists every New Year’s Eve continues to challenge us,” continued the councilor. “Despite preventive measures (…) some continue to sow trouble, in particular by setting fire to vehicles, or by confronting the police and firefighters. This violence is unacceptable”she added.

According to our information, a tribute to the teenager is planned for this Thursday in Strasbourg in the presence of the victim’s family.
