The Christmas frenzy has barely subsided, but winter promotions are once again catching the eye of shopping lovers. In Luxembourg but also among our neighbors in Lorraine, the winter sales begin this Thursday, January 2.
In Luxembourg, the winter sales start this Thursday January 2, 2025to end on Saturday January 25 included. The opportunity to get good deals in physical stores but also with online sales.
Please note that this sales period may be an opportunity for some merchants to carry out illegal practicessuch as carrying out false sales, with “sale” prices identical to the usual prices, or sales displays (-20%, -30%, etc.) that are not easily identifiable. The next sales, those ofsummer 2025they will begin on Friday June 27 and end on Saturday July 26, an additional weekend compared to their usual duration.
-Sales in the Greater Region
In Lorrainein Moselle and Meurthe-et-Lorraine, winter sales are expected from this Thursday, January 2, just to start at the same time as the Luxembourg neighbor. The Lorraine departments will in fact be able to take advantage of their usual exemption allowing sales to start a little earlier than in the rest of France, to better face competition from Luxembourg sales. Note that the sales in Lorraine will continue even after those in Luxembourg, since they will continue until Wednesday January 29.
On the side of the Belgiumthe sales will start one day late compared to Lorraine and Luxembourg, this Friday January 3. On the other hand, they will last a little longer, since the end date of the period is set at Friday January 31.
L’Germanyshe continues to stand apart, because no sales period is planned. As a reminder, these have been abolished, in particular due to the popularity of online commerce. There is no official legislation on the date of sales and merchants regularly apply discounts for their customers throughout the year. That said, promotions traditionally remain numerous between the end of December and the end of January.
