Firefighters and police arrived at the scene around 2:30 a.m.
During the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025, the storage building at Wam Park, the famous leisure center of Condrieu (Rhône) south of Lyon, was completely destroyed by flames. It also served as a garage and toilets.
-Other fires and acts of vandalism
According to the City of Condrieu, this fire is not an isolated event. Other fires and acts of vandalism would indeed have taken place in the New Year: “very large fires in the trash cans in the Roches de Condrieu port parking lot, car with a body completely streaked with lacerations, burning merry-go-round in the fruit market square, fire bins at La Maladiere, in front of the Saint Abdon chapel…”
The fire which broke out at Wam Park could well be of criminal origin. The investigation, carried out by the gendarmes of Ampuis and Saint-Clair, will in any case serve to determine this.
