Los Angeles [US]January 2 (ANI): The new year marked a new beginning for popular YouTuber MrBeast on the personal front.
On January 1, 2025, Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, announced his engagement to his girlfriend Thea Booysen.
On Instagram, MrBeast shared several adorable moments that captured him popping the question to Thea.
“You did something, boy,” he captioned the post.
The update has left its fans extremely happy.
The post also attracted a comment from Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.
“Wohooo Congratulations (red heart emoji),” Shilpa wrote.
According to People, the couple got engaged on Christmas at home surrounded by their families, who were surprised.
“My family went from South Africa for Christmas and we were going to celebrate Christmas at home so both families were there. We were opening presents, and then for the very last gift, he asked me to close my eyes because it was a surprise,” Booysen told PEOPLE.
“I intentionally dropped a large box to make a noise before presenting her with the real gift – with the ring inside. And then I got down on one knee and proposed,” MrBeast added.
After Booysen opened her eyes, she “of course said yes” and was “extremely excited.”
“Thea is very close to her family, so I wanted to make sure she was included in this momentous occasion. Christmas went well because they were in town on the other side of the world,” MrBeast explained.
Even though the social media star is known for his elaborate challenges and large-scale stunts, he wanted his engagement to be small and special.
“My friends thought I would propose in a very public way, like some sort of spectacle at the Super Bowl or something, very big like that, but I knew I wanted it to be the opposite, to be truly private and intimate. “, he said.
MrBeast met Booysen, another gamer and internet personality from South Africa, in 2022 while visiting his home country. During the trip, MrBeast went to dinner with a mutual friend who invited Booysen to join them.
“When I met him, I was quite surprised at how down-to-earth and also intelligent he was,” Booysen recalls. “I thought YouTubers were just some sort of character, but when I met him I was quite surprised to see that he’s actually a nice guy. He wasn’t sitting there with an ego.
The two quickly bonded over their passion for learning and began an in-depth conversation about science, YouTube, and beyond.
“When we were first introduced, we immediately understood how brilliant Thea was,” MrBeast said. “She has a wide range of knowledge and can delve into many topics in depth. She told me about her work as an author and her passion for her hobbies – we instantly hit it off. I kept thinking that she is really smart and beautiful. I knew from the first minutes after meeting that I wanted the chance to go out with her. Fortunately, she also felt a strong connection.
The couple made their first public appearance at the Kids’ Choice Awards in April 2022.
Last year, MrBeast also came to India and met many Bollywood celebrities during his visit to India. (ANI)
