Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Coast Guard ship CSB 8005 successfully completed a working mission with the Indian Coast Guard in the city of Kochi, Kerala state of India.
In an interview with Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) newspaper, Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, deputy commander and chief of staff of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command, said that the 3 to December 31 reflected the desire to foster deeper cooperation, trust and mutual understanding between the two forces in law enforcement at sea, for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace and stability in regional waters and global.
It allowed executives and officers from both parties to exchange experiences in building a stronger maritime force, improving their operational capabilities, particularly in the control of ships, weapons and technical equipment, the conduct of joint training in search and rescue, firefighting and responding to oil spills at sea.
According to Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh, the working mission to Kochi of the CSB 8005 ship and the Vietnam Coast Guard delegation marked a historic first. It was also the longest voyage undertaken, covering almost 6,000 nautical miles. Despite difficult and complex weather conditions, the ship operated continuously and successfully achieved all mission objectives while ensuring absolute safety in all aspects. -VNA
