With a Perfect Triple-Double, Russell Westbrook Reaches a Rare Milestone – Jumper Brasil

Russell Westbrook is synonymous with triple-doubles in the NBA. Despite the end of his career, the 2016 MVP continues to demonstrate his ability to score, grab rebounds and help his teammates. This was evident on Monday (30), when he had a perfect triple-double in the Denver Nuggets’ victory against the Utah Jazz.

In this game, the point guard recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, and impressively, he made no offensive errors. Thus, Russell Westbrook achieved a perfect triple-double, contributing significantly to the Nuggets’ victory over the Jazz.

Additionally, Westbrook reached a historic milestone. Nikola Jokic also had a double-double in three stats, with 36 points, 22 rebounds and 11 assists. In this way, the Nuggets leader became the first player in NBA history to achieve this feat with three different teammates.

Before Jokic, he accomplished this feat with LeBron James while with the Los Angeles Lakers, and with Paul George during his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Incidentally, the last time two teammates achieved a triple-double during the regular season was with LeBron in December 2021, when the point guard and power forward achieved this feat against the Houston Rockets.

Westbrook has already left a significant mark at the start of the season. On November 20, he led the Nuggets to victory against the Memphis Grizzlies, scoring 12 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and providing 12 assists. He thus became the first player in NBA history to reach 200 triple-doubles in his career.

At that point, it was his first of the season. Until then, the last time he reached this milestone was in April 2024, in a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns; however, this was part of the previous campaign.

With this latest feat, he further extends his lead in the rankings with 201 triple-doubles. Following him is Oscar Robertson with 181, and teammate Nikola Jokic with 143. Finally, Magic Johnson and LeBron James round out the top five, with 138 and 120, respectively.

Westbrook’s dominance on this list even prompted a statement from Rashad McCants. During his appearance on the Gil’s Arena podcast, the former point guard named the veteran, who made history with his triple-doubles, as the best point guard of all time.

“By that standard, Westbrook would be the greatest point guard of all time. Considering that the double-double with points and assists is one of the most valued aspects of the point guard position. How many double-doubles can you produce? Can you maintain a double-double average? But Westbrook maintained a triple-double average as a leader. He managed to do it four times. McCants asked.
