Juticalpa, a team in the Honduran first division, announced the hiring of Uruguayan Silvio Fernández as their new head coach, succeeding his compatriot Fernando Araújo, who had been in charge of the team for two years.
“I am happy to have arrived at this club. I know the importance that this team has in the city, and I promise a lot of hard work,” expressed the 50-year-old coach, who had a playing career with clubs such as Nacional, Defensor Sporting, Villa Española, Central Español, Racing and Cerro Largo.
Fernández added: “I am where God wants me to be,” and he will be accompanied by Spanish assistant Ignacio Berástegui and Chilean assistant César Salgado.

The new head coach already has experience as a player in Honduras, having defended the colors of Hispano in Comayagua, but he has never held a coaching position in the country, focusing instead on clubs in Guatemala and in Chile from 2013 to today.
Juticalpa finished the Torneo Apertura in penultimate place with 17 points from 18 matches, scoring 13 goals while conceding 29. The team will need to improve their performances to avoid relegation at the end of the Clausura.
