The Union experienced a rather chaotic first part of the season, even if it seemed to gain momentum in the final weeks of 2024. After a long search, Sébastien Pocognoli seems to have found the right formula and a few players fell victim to it.
The Union is taking advantage of the winter transfer window to downsize its core. Earlier today, the Union had already announced the departure of Casper Terho and a few hours later a second outgoing transfer was confirmed.
The Union separates from Kabangu
Elton Kabangu also closes the door to Parc Duden behind him. The 26-year-old striker had fallen down the striker hierarchy and insisted on leaving in order to get more playing time. He was successful, as Union will loan him to Hearts for the remainder of the season.

Hearts also have an option to buy so there is a good chance Kabangu will not return to Union. The Union snatched it from Willem II Tilb urg in the summer of 2023, but in a year and a half, Kabangu never managed to win. He played 32 matches with the Brussels club, during which he was able to score only two goals and provide two assists. However, he added the Croky Cup and the Super Cup to his list of achievements.
