NCAA Football: Sugar Bowl game pushed back 24 hours

The Sugar Bowl game, which was to take place this evening at the Superdome in New , was postponed by 24 hours following the car-ramming attack that occurred overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday.

The meeting between the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia and the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame will therefore take place Thursday evening at 8:45 p.m. This is the last quarter-final to be played in the university championship of NCAA Division 1.

“Right now, that’s the plan,” Sugar Bowl CEO Jeff Hundley said after announcing the game’s postponement.

The Superdome was closed for security reasons after a man “determined” to cause “carnage” on New Year’s Eve rammed his vehicle into crowds in the French Quarter of the southern US city, causing at least ten dead and 35 injured.

The police also described the gesture as a “terrorist act”.
