Patrick Gendraud: from municipal councilor in Courgis to president of the Yonne departmental council

Former financial controller in , Patrick Gendraud settled in Yonne, where he spent part of his childhood (in Maligny), after obtaining a state certificate as a driving school instructor. He quickly began a political career in the department crowned by two terms as president of the departmental council (since 2017). The second was in progress.

Patrick Gendraud died on the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025. A look back at his political career.

1952 (January 29): birth, in Paris 14th century.

1979 : he settled in Courgis and became director of a driving school in Chablis.

1989 : elected municipal councilor, in Courgis.

1992 to 2001 : mayor of Courgis.

1998 : elected general councilor of the canton of Chablis.

2001 to 2017 : mayor of Chablis.

2008 : elected president of the UMP of Yonne against Philippe Auberger (mayor of Joigny); he succeeds Henri de Raincourt. But he was replaced during the year by Dominique Mary at the head of the Icaunaise right.

2011 : he joins the UDI and is re-elected in the first round in the cantonal elections.

President of the Department since 2017

2012 : defeated in the legislative elections in the 2nd constituency of Yonne. Officially without a label, but supported by the entire New Center, he threw himself into the battle to outrank the outgoing UMP Jean-Marie Rolland.

2014-2016 (December 31): president of the community of communes of the Pays Chablisien.

2017 (January 16): he becomes 1st vice-president of the new intermunicipality, the Chablis, villages and terroirs community of communes, chaired by Dominique Charlot (the deputy mayor of the commune of Accolay).

2017 (July 13): elected president (LR) of the Yonne departmental council, replacing André Villiers.

2019 : the question of his membership in the LR arises and gets people talking. He has not been up to date with his contributions since January 2018 and, in fact, he is therefore no longer a member of the party. But he assured on January 15: “I have made commitments to update myself. »

2021 (July 1): re-elected as president of the Yonne departmental council.

2022 : he leaves the Les Républicains party.

2024 : now Miscellaneous right (DVD), several sessions of the departmental council are missing for health reasons. He died on the night of December 31, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
