The Gabonese Penal Code strongly condemns rape and incest, but some compatriots still persist in committing such crimes. This is the case of a compatriot named Dieudonné, residing in Port-Gentil, who was arrested by agents of the city's central police station for rape of his granddaughter. In a report broadcast by Ogooué Maritime Infos (OMI) on December 31, 2024, the alleged rapist denies all the facts with which he is accused.
Port-Gentil, the economic capital of Gabon, seems to be the epicenter of the most unusual news stories. The latest development is the case of a 59-year-old compatriot who apparently abused his granddaughter. An act that he says he does not recognize, despite medical evidence, in particular the certificate issued by the specialist which indeed attests that the victim was deflowered. « It's a fact that I don't know, it's a case against me » he declared.
According to the alleged rapist, the version told by his granddaughter is nothing short of a lie. « I listened to the girl's version, it dates from November, and I was informed of this affair on Friday December 13 » he indicated. Stating that this story would be driven by the mother of the victim who Dieudonné had also inflicted the same treatment on. « It was in 2010 that I had my daughter shot, I didn't know it was also rape. I told myself that rape was just penetration. On this side I admit, but his daughter I didn't touch her we can't just believe the victim, we need the proof » he retorted.
Despite the medical certificate, he does not recognize the crime
For Dieudonné, the gynecological test delivered by the doctor, which attests that she would have been abused, does not constitute concrete proof. « The only proof we have on the little one is the hospital thing, I don't know what that determines there because I haven't read that » he maintains. The latter staunchly believes that his daughter would seek to make him pay for the act committed against her years ago, despite the family arrangement. « The mother's matter was handled as a family, we came to an agreement. Now I understand that she is accusing me of raping her daughter to make me pay, I believe it is a set-up by the mother. I reproach myself for nothing and I place myself at the disposal of the law » explained Dieudonné.
