Flandre Lys: travel to the heart of 1,001 nights

After exploring the Land of the Rising Sun last year, the Flandre Lys Community of Communes transports us this time into the fascinating world of the tales of 1,001 nights. From January to March 2025, this journey in the colors of the Orient promises to amaze all audiences thanks to a series of activities as rich as they are varied.

The 27th edition of the Spring of Poets, organized with the Chemins Inattendus association, the Ministry of National Education and Youth, and the National Book Center, celebrates the Orient through a captivating program. Dance, music, henna, craft creations, stories and poetry come together to offer a magical dive into this universe full of mystery and splendor.

Discovering the richness of oriental culture and opening minds to new inspirations are the key words of this event. For three months, the eight communes of the CCFL host workshops and shows led by passionate specialists, such as the Manjushree company, experts in oriental dance and traditions.

On the program, introductions to oriental dance, henna art workshops, lantern creations, bilingual tales in French and Arabic, and oriental music sessions orchestrated by professionals. Each activity invites you to soak up the atmosphere of 1,001 nights, mixing creativity, tradition and conviviality.

Among the highlights, the poetry competition, open from January 1 to February 28, 2025, offers everyone the opportunity to participate in one of three categories: young people, adults or photo-poem. For amateurs wishing to perfect their writing, writing workshops will be organized in the network’s libraries between January 15 and February 8.

The closing evening, scheduled for March 18 at 7 p.m. at the Robert-Hossein Cultural Space, will mark the climax of this event. It will begin with a magical show inspired by 1,001 nights presented by the Manjushree company, before giving way to the reading of selected poems and an oriental dance performance. The award ceremony to the competition winners will conclude this exceptional evening.

Completely free and open to all, this event is a true invitation to travel and discovery. Flandre Lys offers you, for a few months, an Orient within reach.
