MeteoLux's first forecasts for the year 2025 are wintry to say the least. The national forecaster indicates that a cold front from Scandinavia will determine the weather over the next four days in Luxembourg, and thus predicts a return of snow to the country.
A white coat could indeed cover the landscape on Thursday January 2 in the morning. These forecasts lead to the triggering of a yellow alert for snow warnings from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the entire country. “Above around 300 meters, accumulations of fresh snow between 1 and 5 centimeters are possible,” indicates MeteoLux in its bulletin.
The national forecaster specifies that the rain-snow limit will gradually drop during the morning to around 200 to 300 meters. “The precipitation will become mostly solid and will often fall in the form of snow or rain and mixed snow until the beginning of the afternoon,” explains MeteoLux. If up to 5 centimeters are expected in the north of the country, the white coat will be less thick in the south.
Note that winter precipitation may also occur in the evening.
Snow Saturday and Sunday
In terms of temperatures, the minimums will be between -1 and 2 degrees this Thursday, January 2. The thermometer will plunge on Friday January 3 and Saturday January 4 to reach -4 degrees in the north of the country.
-A second snowy episode is predicted for Saturday January 4 and Sunday January 5 by MeteoLux. This time, the layer could reach 1 to 2 centimeters on Saturday, and 1 centimeter on Sunday.
Temperatures will then rise to 4 to 6 degrees Monday morning, and up to 10 degrees during the afternoon.
