For this first weekend of this year 2025, Saturday January 4 and Sunday January 5, the weather promises to be rough. Indeed, France will find itself at the heart of an air mass conflict with cold on Saturday before a remarkable mild spell on Sunday. The transition period between Saturday evening and Sunday morning in the north should be monitored with a temporary risk of snow.

A fairly cold Saturday, snow conflict in the north?
Fairly cold weather is expected over 3/4 of the country, without excess, but with some disturbance. Going back north, in contact with cold air, a risk of snow cannot be ruled out in the northernmost regions in the evening and night from Saturday to Sunday. Everywhere else, the sky will be very cloudy with a few showers.
We expect -1 to 5°C in the morning in the plains and 1 to 8°C in the afternoon, up to 9 to 10°C near the Mediterranean. We will be 2 to 3°C below normal.

A sweet Sunday
The situation will change radically. Indeed, the disturbance from the day before will reach the north of the country with rain. In the south, the weather will be calmer, but very cloudy. The south wind will be noticeable. This is bad news for our mountains because this southerly wind and northerly rain will eat into the snowpack below 1500 meters.
