Like Strasbourg or Nancy, New Year’s Eve was marked by several acts of urban violence in Moselle.
According to a police source, 15 cars were burned in different towns in the department and the start of a fire in a primary school took place.
Vehicles burned in Metz and Moselle
Contacted by Lorraine News, Fabrice Marseu, union delegate SGP FO National Police Unit 57, indicates the number of cars burned during New Year’s Eve in the following areas:
- Metz and urban areas: 4 cars;
- Forbach: 2 cars;
- Freyming-Merlebach: 4 cars;
- Sarrebourg: 1 car;
- Thionville and Vallée de Fensch: 4 cars.
A fire begins in a school
He also specifies that the Primevères school in Sarrebourg was targeted by an attempted fire. The fire started in a classroom before being brought under control by firefighters.
If incidents punctuated the department, Mr. Marseu concludes that the night was “fairly calm and that no police officer was injured”.
