In its covered market project and after consultation, the municipality of Aurec-sur-Loire had chosen the Place des Hêtres, near the Loire bridge, to create this covered market. The wooden structure has taken shape.
Three locations were initially in the running for this project. In addition to the Place des Hêtres with its 1,500 m2, the town had identified the Place de l'Europe (1,100 m2) and the Place de l'Eglise (1,400 m2 divided into three zones). In 2024, 655 Aurécois participated in the public inquiry. 80% of the responses validated the idea of a covered hall.
This future hall measures 750 m2 to accommodate 20 non-sedentary traders, including 8 with trucks.
Place des Hêtres had the most advantages, on the edge of the RD46, near the media library, nursery, canteen, La Poste, the pharmacy and a restaurant.
A technical feat
The future hall is a real technical feat: the 750m² sheltered space will not have any intermediate pillars. Large wood-metal lattice beams (17.5 m long) support a solid wood frame with ribbed ribs.
The roof, made up of five gabled sides, directly echoes the roofs of the historic town center of Aurec seen from the Route de Bas.
Brightness and electrical production go hand in hand
The orientation of the hall guarantees the optimal functioning of the solar panels (300 m²), on the South sides, and also allows light to enter on the North sides to capture constant and diffuse light. Brightness and electricity production are then compatible within the same architecture!
The completion of the project is scheduled for April 2025.
