LaLiga has officially removed Dani Olmo, wearing the number ’20’ for Barcelona, from its website, along with Pau Víctor, who wore ’18’. This action confirms the delisting announced Tuesday evening, due to the club’s inability to present “an alternative that respects the economic control regulations of LaLiga, allowing them to register a player from January 2”. In a swift move, both players were removed from the platform before then, with Andreas Christensen saving the furniture, sporting the ’15’, his absence having previously allowed Olmo’s registration until December 31.
This situation highlights the ongoing crisis within FC Barcelona, who revealed late on Tuesday that they had requested a new license from the Spanish Football Federation (FEF) for the two players concerned, however LaLiga no longer considers them eligible to play, due to less during league matches. It remains to be seen how Barcelona will proceed in competitions under the auspices of the FEF and UEFA, including the Champions League. The Catalan giants’ first match of the year is scheduled for Saturday against Barbastro, followed by a Spanish Super Cup encounter against Athletic on January 8, with both tournaments hosted by the FEF.

So far, LaLiga has taken the initiative to remove the player from its site, and Barcelona has requested a new license from the FEF, which has not yet responded. Olmo himself has kept a low profile, posting a photo on New Year’s Eve adorned with two hearts—one blue and one red—symbolizing his loyalty to the Blaugrana club, despite LaLiga restrictions banning him from playing and having a clause that allows him to become a free agent.
