Barça had to register Dani Olmo as well as Pau Victor before December 31 at midnight. Otherwise, the two men could simply be released from their contract, and the Catalan club would also have to pay them their full salaries for the duration of their Barcelona lease. In the aftermath of this tragic deadline, the Spanish press itself does not seem to know what really happened in these last hours of the year 2024.

“FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative which, in accordance with the economic control regulations of LaLiga, allows it to register any player from January 2”indicated La Liga in a press release published yesterday evening. Which therefore means that, theoretically, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor are free players at the time of writing these lines, at least for the leaders of the Spanish championship.
They are no longer Barça players for La Liga
Moreover, when we take a look at the Barça squad on the La Liga website, the two men are no longer present there. Andreas Christensen, who was absent from this squad during the first part of the season (his injury allowed Olmo to be registered) is however now very present. For its part, Barça estimates that it still has until January 3 to resolve this situation, after having filed an appeal with the Spanish Federation as explained Sport.

The club would therefore, according to him, still have a few days to work on this file and to complete this sale of VIP places at the Camp Nou which will bring in enough money to register its two players. Olmo and Victor could therefore still be registered by Friday. Even though Dani Olmo posted hearts in Barça colors on his latest Instagram post and his agent indicated yesterday that he wanted to stay in Catalonia, the truth is that no one in the Spanish media this morning is is able to really say whether Olmo and Victor will be able to play in La Liga with Barça in this second part of the season.
