Barea match in Mauritius: Supporters en masse

The Malagasy nationals in Mauritius revitalized the match between the Barea and the Eswatini team on Sunday, thanks to the excellent organization of the “Malagasy Miray Hina” association.

The Malagasy community in Mauritius has once again shown unwavering support for the national teams, whether in rugby or football. Last Sunday, during the Barea match in the final qualifying round for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), a record number of supporters filled the stands of the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex, showing their passion for Malagasy football. Despite the 1-0 defeat, their enthusiasm remained intact as they celebrated Madagascar’s qualification for the next CHAN scheduled for next month.

This mobilization was orchestrated by the Malagasy Miray association, made up of Malagasy residents in Mauritius. The Barea match coincided with the President’s Cup final in football. After this final at the Stade de Trianon at midday, a large caravan headed to the Côte d’Or complex to support the national team in the afternoon. “Every Barea match means a lot to us, especially when it takes place in Mauritius. We could not remain inactive in the face of such an event. We showed our solidarity with the national team,” said James Andriamalala, president of the association and brother of coach Rôrô.
