A few days ago, Cristiano Ronaldo caused a furor by attacking and the level of its championship, which he described as inferior to that of Saudi Arabia. An attack which did not escape Adil Rami, who reacted to it with an equally divisive opinion.

Usually, she's not the type to get a lot of international attention. The low exposure of Ligue 1 prevents it from fighting with heavyweights such as the Premier League or La Liga. However, in recent days, she has benefited from an unexpected spotlight from… Cristiano Ronaldo. If this can however be described as a spotlight, the latter was so critical of her.

Fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, Adil Rami dismantles his comments about France

Present at the Globe Awards ceremony last Friday, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke in particular about the level of the Saudi Pro League, which he joined almost two years ago. For this, he made an unflattering comparison for Ligue 1:

Cristiano Ronaldo: The Saudi championship is better than Ligue 1, by a wide margin. And I'm not saying that because I play there.

I don't care what people think. In France, there is only PSG. The rest is finished. (…) You don’t need to take my word for it, come and check it out on site. Try running under 38, 39, 40 degrees and repeat sprints. You will see what state you will be in.

Words which obviously caused a stir in France.

There have indeed been many heated reactions coming from France. Ligue 1, for example, itself responded to this dig by ironically recalling that Lionel Messi, who played on its grounds, won the World Cup in such temperatures. As far as he is concerned, Adil Rami, who places himself as a big fan of CR7responded to him during a recent Twitch live and clearly went against him:

Adil Rami : I tell you: Ligue 1 is one of the strongest championships in the world. There isn't even a debate. (…) I, who am Team Cristiano Ronaldo, who respects this guy and who always wanted to have his jerseys, I am sorry to disappoint his fans and to disappoint myself, but the years he spent in Saudi Saudi, if he makes them in France, it's not the same.

I'm not mistaken when I say that Ligue 1 is one of the strongest championships. If you put Cristiano Ronaldo in France who plays in Saudi Arabia, I swear to you that there would be a huge difference over the same period.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the Portuguese striker will one day confirm or deny the words of his former opponent by joining Ligue 1.

Contrary to what Cristiano Ronaldo says, Ligue 1 is indeed one of the best championships in the world according to Adil Rami. Therefore, according to the latter, the Portuguese would encounter more difficulties in France than in Saudi Arabia.
