On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the camps, M6 will begin broadcasting the mini-series “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” on Wednesday January 22, 2025, adapted from the best-seller by Heather Morris.
“The Auschwitz Tattooist” is an event series inspired by the true story of Jewish Holocaust survivors Tulip et Gita Sokolov.
Tulip (Jonah Hauer-King) arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau in 1942. Shortly after his arrival, he became one of the tattoo artists responsible for tattooing identification numbers on the arms of his fellow deportees. One day, while tattooing his prison number on his arm, he met Gita (Anna Prochniak). It was love at first sight, immediate and mutual, marking the beginning of a courageous, unforgettable and deeply human story.
Under the constant surveillance of a Nazi SS officer, Calmly (Jonas Nay), Tulip et Gita become determined to save each other.
Sixty years later, Tulip (Harvey Keitel) encounter Heather Morris (Melanie Lynskey), a young aspiring writer. Recently widowed, he finds the courage to tell his story to the world. By telling his story to Heather, Tulipan octogenarian, confronts the traumatic ghosts of his youth and relives his romantic memories in one of the most horrific places there is.
