Are the Pittsburgh Penguins pushing forward Jesse Puljujarvi out? The Pennsylvania team announced that it had submitted the Finn’s name to waivers on Monday.

This means that he is now available to all National Hockey League (NHL) teams able to absorb his contract worth $800,000 into their payroll.

Puljujarvi no longer appears to be in head coach Mike Sullivan’s plans since he has not played since December 7.

During the current campaign, the 26-year-old has recorded three goals and eight points in 21 games. However, he lost his regular position on right wing following the Penguins’ acquisition of Phil Tomasino from Nashville.

Puljujarvi never managed to justify his high draft selection ranking, having been chosen fourth overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2016 behind Auston Matthews, Patrik Laine and Pierre-Luc Dubois.

Since the start of his NHL career, split between the Oilers, Carolina Hurricanes and Penguins, he has scored 126 points in 377 games.
