Human bones were discovered on Sunday in Laragne-Monteglin (Hautes-Alpes) by hikers, reports
BFM YOU SAY. Among these remains, a skull and a long bone, possibly a femur, were extracted from frozen ground. Near the bones, a piece of fabric, potentially a piece of clothing, was also found.
Criminal identification technicians (TIC) from the national gendarmerie quickly went to the scene to make the first observations. This Monday, December 30, additional research was carried out using a drone piloted by a specialized soldier, as well as by the gendarmerie mountain group (GMG), mobilized to inspect the surrounding area.
According to Marion Lozac'hmeur, public prosecutor of Gap,
“the investigation is entrusted to the Gap gendarmerie company as well as to the IRCGN investigation unit to date the bones and find possible DNA”.
The Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie (IRCGN) is responsible for analyzing these remains in order to establish an identification and determine the circumstances of their presence in this remote location.
