More effective than its opponent, the MHR broke Clermont's invincibility at home after a tough fight.
A duel of tough guys and a great deal for Montpellier. Clermont, which had won all its home matches this season, fell this Saturday at Marcel-Michelin against MHR during the “Boxing Day” of the 13th day of Top 14. Too undisciplined, ASM fell apart over the course of minutes to finally lose 18-22 despite a double from Fourcade (19th, 27th) during the first act. The Montpellier team, trailing by two points at the break (12-10), often held back before taking advantage of (numerous) opposing errors to win. A prestigious success based on a single try scored by Reinach (34th) and validated above all by the boot of Stuart Hogg (17 points).
In the standings, Clermont (5th) loses valuable points – despite the defensive bonus – and could see La Rochelle (traveling to Perpignan) move ahead of it on Sunday. Montpellier, on the other hand, did very well by climbing to 6th place, five points behind its victim of the day.
