Anderlecht ends its 2024 year on a bad note after its home defeat against Dender (2-3) during the 20th day of the Jupiler Pro League on Friday. This setback, the 5th of the season, places Anderlecht in 3rd place with 33 points. Dender, for its part, moved up to 9th place with 27 units.
The Mauves were picked up cold by the promoted from Challenger Pro League. Less than ten minutes after kick-off, Roman Kvet grabbed the ball in front of the rectangle and took the time to adjust a powerful, tense and unstoppable shot for Colin Coosemans (9th, 0-1).
A little more than ten minutes after the opening score, Yari Verschaeren set the record straight with an equalizer on a perfectly placed curling shot from outside the area (21st, 1-1).
Launched, the Anderlecht managed to reverse the trend in the scorer with a great individual action from Dreyer who, after several dribbles in the area, put his team in control (30th, 2-1).
In the second half, the debates were more balanced and Bruny Nsimba, who came on shortly after the hour mark, had the opportunity to restart Dender but his shot was far too wide (75th). Cornered for several minutes, the RSCA defense finally gave in with a nice 1-2 between Kvet, on the pass, and Aurelien Scheidler, on the finish (78th, 2-2).
The turnaround occurred a few minutes from the end of the match with a breakthrough from Nsimba who outplayed two defenders before knocking out Anderlecht (89th, 2-3).
Now it’s time for the winter break before the championship resumes from January 10.
