The Provincial Committee for monitoring the implementation of agreements relating to the restructuring and valorization of the tourist resort of Oukaïmeden held a meeting on Friday at the headquarters of the Al Haouz province.
Chaired by the governor of the province, Rachid Benchikhi, this meeting was attended by the regional and provincial directors of the services concerned, a representative of the council of the Marrakech-Safi region and the president of the provincial council of Al Haouz, was the opportunity to examine the strategic axes of this project, in particular the development of the site, the reinforcement of the roads and the improvement of the quality of the activities and services which will be provided at the station.
The committee also discussed the progress, in particular of the work to widen and strengthen provincial roads No. 2030 between Aghbalou et Oukaïmeden and n° 2017 connecting the commune ofOurika to the provincial road 2030, as well as the development of two cycle paths over a distance of 11 km, knowing that these various planned interventions should be completed by June 2025.
The budget allocated to these actions to rehabilitate and strengthen the road network amounts to 148.34 million dirhams (MDH), financed within the framework of an agreement concluded between the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Equipment and Water, the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) and the Council of the Marrakech-Safi region.
During the meeting, the measures taken for the implementation of the sanitation project for the Oukaïmeden station were also examined.
The meeting was, on the other hand, punctuated by a presentation presented by the general director of SMIT, in which he reviewed the stages of the project to upgrade the Oukaïmeden ski resortin accordance with international standards, for a total investment estimated at 230 MDH.
The first phase of this project concerns the modification of the station management model, the adoption of a new approach, the improvement of the technical performance of the equipment, the modernization of the installations, the carrying out of maintenance work, the implementation in place of a program for managing the risks linked to snowfall and the installation of safety equipment.
As for the second phase, it notably provides for the development of a new generation of leisure activities and the construction of a restaurant at the summit of Mont Oukaïmeden.
