In the province of West Flanders, in Bellegem, three burglars were arrested.
Local police caught three burglars in the act on Christmas Eve in Bellegem (West Flanders) and arrested them after a chase.
A neighbor alerted the police around 5 p.m. after hearing glass shattering in a house in Steenlandermeers. He saw a light turn on in one of his neighbors’ living rooms, although he knew no one was home. Several police teams went to the scene, but the suspects had already fled in a vehicle registered in France.
All three arrested
“The car was quickly spotted on country roads and chased by police“, indicates the local police. “Shortly afterwards, in Dottenijsestraat, the suspects lost control of their vehicle and ended up in the ditch. The three were handcuffed and transported to the police station for a hearing and further investigation.”
These are two majors and one minor. They were brought before the investigating judge and the youth judge respectively the day after Christmas. The two adults remain in detention and the minor was taken to a closed institution. The stolen goods were returned to the owners. Police are investigating whether the trio are also likely to commit other thefts.
