Kate Middleton: little George replaced Prince Harry during an important Christmas tradition at Sandringham

This year again, the british royal family respected the traditions of the English monarchy by celebrating Christmas at their estate in Sandringham. On this occasion, Kate Middleton et le prince William were able to observe their three children George, Charlotte and Louis enjoy the end of year celebrations with family.

Prince Harry's absence at Christmas

This year Christmas has a special flavor for the British royal family. In 2024, Kate Middleton and King Charles III were diagnosed with cancer. A terrible ordeal which forced them to devote themselves to their health and their chemotherapy treatment. Prince William therefore carried out his role alone, representing the Crown for months.

The entire British royal family was able to meet up during the month of December, whether during the Christmas concert organized by Kate Middleton or the mass on December 25 at Sandringham. There was, however, one big absentee: Prince Harry. Since moving to California in 2020, he has no longer wanted to spend Christmas in England and prefers to stay in the United States.

Prince Harry replaced by little George?

The British royal family wanted to revive an old tradition during Christmas: the match at Sandringham Estate. Employees of the royal family, local residents and some Windsor people decided to share a moment of conviviality around a football match.

For the occasion, and for the first time, Prince George joined his father on the field. On the sidelines, Kate Middleton, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis applauded and encouraged the teams.

A source who attended the match told The Sun: “It just seemed like a moment of healthy bonding between father and son.” adding “There were other children playing and it was very fun and light.”. Prince William's return greatly touched those present: “It's good that they came back to participate in this traditional match, because it had been years since they had done so.”

This same source slipped: “It was interesting to see that Harry has now replaced Prince George.” A renewal within the monarchy with a new generation of Windsors!
