The travelers finally arrived in Paris early in the afternoon.
This morning of Friday December 27a train Eurostar East broke down in the Channel Tunnel. The approximately 800 passengers remained blocked on the train for almost three hours. It is in the vicinity of 7h at least that the train which had left St Pancras station an hour earlier at 6:01 a.m. broke down. He had to drop off all his travelers in Paris at 9:20 a.m.
After more than 3h30 waitthe train was able to restart but not towards Paris… It headed to Calais, where all the travelers had to board another train towards Paris Gare du Nord. All the travelers finally arrived in the French capital at 2 p.m., more than five hours after the initial arrival time.
Travelers on edge
Travelers could not help but express their anger at this delay which also disrupted the following trains. The Independent newspaper collected the testimony of Gaby Koppel, television producer, also present on the train: “Some of the lights in the carriage have been turned off, but it is very stuffy inside.”
Another traveler who was accompanied by her daughter also confided: “Sitting for 2.5 hours on a stationary train with my eight-year-old daughter was very stressful” adding that it “was very hot and we didn’t know really when we were going to move because they weren’t able to give us a deadline.”
On the social network X, many travelers have also expressed their dissatisfaction, like Lisa: ” What a disaster. We were stuck in a tunnel for hours and hours. No idea when we would be able to get out of it. I am now transferred to another train and am literally missing the whole day in Paris. Do better with Eurostar. Communicate with your customers.”
For its part, the Eurostar company will offer compensation to these travelers.
