It was 10 minutes past midnight when a fire was declared in Val-de-Reuil (Eure), on the night of Thursday December 26 to Friday December 27, 2024. A refrigerated truck parked in the parking lot of the Auchan supermarket was on fire. Firefighters intervened, but the cabin and trailer were completely destroyed.
Not “a simple accident”
The owner of the vehicle, a greengrocer who lives in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), was warned by the police. The Val-de-Reuil police station, which suspects “the intervention of a third person” and not “a simple accident” as took place in Neubourg on December 24, 2024, opened an investigation to “identify the person(s) perpetrators of this fire,” according to a police source. The use of images from video protection cameras gives the police hope of “tracing a trail”.
The fire caused no casualties.
