A new forest fire mobilizes firefighters in the Saint-Bernard sector, threatening homes. Seven vegetation fires are being treated simultaneously in the department.

A major vegetation fire broke out late in the morning on Friday December 27 in the La Montagne sector, on the heights of Saint-Denis.
Fanned by violent winds, the fire started in the Saint-Benernard district is currently progressing towards Chemin des Anglais and the Grande Chaloupe ravine, Réunion 1ère learned from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) .
Currently, firefighters are intervening to protect threatened homes. Problem: their resources are currently scattered all over the department, where several fires are underway.
In addition to the important one of the Grande Montée in Sainte-Marie, the firefighters are mobilized on other vegetation fires: one in the savannah of Saint-Paul, two in Saint-André and two in Saint-Louis.
Three water bomber helicopters are mobilized in addition to ground resources. And emergency services cannot immediately count on the reinforcement of Civil Security Dash 8, mobilized to transport aid to Mayotte as part of the post-Chido airlift.
