A 45-year-old man died in a road accident which occurred early this morning on Friday December 27, in Renage (Isère), a town near Voiron.
At around 5:36 a.m., firefighters were alerted by a witness to a collision between a heavy goods vehicle and a car, on departmental road 45 (rue de la République in the town of Renage).
Arriving first on the scene, the police noticed that the driver was already unconscious. Despite attempts at resuscitation by the emergency services, he was declared dead on the spot by a doctor from the Smur de Voiron.
A passenger in this car, aged 40, was seriously injured and transported in absolute emergency to the unloading department of the Grenoble-Alpes hospital center. The driver of the truck was unhurt.
A gendarmerie investigation will have to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy. Departmental road 45 in the town of Renage was closed in both directions of traffic during the operation, which was still in progress this Friday at 8 a.m.
