Christmas Day was marked by an astonishing announcement from Yûgo Kobayashi in person. Via the official X account of his manga, the author ofAo Ashi revealed the imminent end of his sporting work.
The press release, first revealed in Japanese then in English and French exclusively, announces a conclusion for volume 40. In this short text, we understand that the mangaka had the path of his series in mind from the start since he knew the Esperion’s great adversaries. He clarifies that the current match developed in recent chapters is coming to an end, and that the story is heading towards its epilogue. Here, as is, the press release revealed by the artist:
This news is all the more significant as the author came to meet his French readership last summer, during Japan Expo. On the occasion of the event, we were able to meet Yûgo Kobayashi during an interview with several media, the report of which you can find at this address.
Ao Ashi has been published since 2015 in the Big Comic Spirits magazine published by Shôgakukan. With us, the title has been offered since 2021 to the editions Mangetsu25 volumes being currently available. The work was also the launch title of the publisher attached to the Bragelonne group. In 2022, manga experienced a adaptation into an anime of 24 episodes produced by the Production IG studio. It is broadcast here on Crunchyroll.
If Ao Ashi is about to conclude, note that the author still has several series under his belt. We inevitably think of the spin-off of the series, Ao Ashi : Brother Foot which has only one volume, while Fermat Kitchen also continues its happy path and that the numbering as “volume 1” of the only volume of Short Peace may suggest a potential recovery in the future. All these mangas are also published by Mangetsu editions.
Synopsis – Ao Ashi :
Aoi Ashito lives in Ehime Prefecture and has never left. Although he is a gifted footballer, he has always suffered from an overly impulsive character. After witnessing Ashito’s talent, the U18 director of Tokyo Esperion FC recommended that he participate in scouting in Tokyo. Without a penny or any real knowledge of the workings of professional training, Ashito throws himself body and soul into a great journey, which will perhaps one day take him to the heights of Japanese football.
