As New Year’s Eve approaches, many French people wonder what weather will be in store for them. Snow ? Rain ? Rather dry weather? The evening program may depend on this factor.
When will we change the year? This is a question of little importance to some, but essential to others. This year, fans of outdoor festivities will be in heaven, as the weather should be rather mild across a large part of the territory.
Be careful, however, in some areas where rain could occur, and in the east of France, where it should be very cold, according to Météo-France.
Dry weather everywhere except on the Breton and Normandy coasts
Celebrating outdoors will be possible for most of us, since the weather will be dry everywhere. Everywhere, except on the tip of Brittany and in Normandy, where Météo-France predicts rain. Failing to agree on Mont-Saint-Michel, Bretons and Normans would therefore have to share a few drops of rain.
Paradoxically, this is where the mildest temperatures are forecast for Tuesday evening, with 11 degrees for Cherbourg and 12 for Brest.
Clouds in the north, sunshine in the south
Between cloudy weather in the north and sunny weather in the south, France will be cut in two on Tuesday evening for New Year’s Eve. To the north of the Metz-La Rochelle axis, it will be cloudy, and to the south, the sun will come to the party, at least for the preparations, until nightfall.
Fluctuating temperatures depending on the region
The least we can say is that temperatures will not be uniform on December 31, 2024. Météo-France predicts a difference of 14 degrees between the two extremes. It should be 12 in Brest, and -2 in Bourg-Saint-Maurice, where heaters and fireplaces will be welcome.
For the rest, 6 degrees are expected in Paris, 10 along the Mediterranean and in Corsica, 4 in Strasbourg and around 5 to 6 degrees in the center of France.
Wetter and colder weather on January 1
During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, temperatures will drop and will be cooler in the morning. The precipitation which will affect the Normandy and Breton coasts on Tuesday evening should reach a large part of the northern half throughout the day.
The Mediterranean rim could also not be spared. Everywhere else, clearings will persist.
