Last night l’Inter closed the 17th matchday by winning the late match at San Siro against Como: Inzaghi's team won 2-0 without any major difficulties.
However, the Nerazzurri president's words made quite a stir in the pre-match Beppe Marottawhich kept us at respond in kind to AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale. In fact, in recent days, the latter had let himself go heavy statements against the Nerazzurriexplaining how it makes no sense to win and then go bankrupt the following season.
Below are Marotta's words in response to Cardinale on “Sky Sport”.
Inter, Marotta against Cardinale
“Cardinale's statements are out of place and disrespectful towards the prestige and image of Inter. I think there was some confusion. It is true that in recent years our majority shareholder has experienced a period of economic difficulty, but two years ago he was joined by Oaktree and since then things have changed. Oaktree is now our owner and together we have drawn up the guidelines to restore the balance sheet.
But the difficulty of the majority shareholder is one thing, the management of Inter is another. We respect the Financial Fair Play imposed by UEFA: we went from a loss of 240 million in 2021 to 36 million in 2022, the same year in which we won the Scudetto and Super Cup. We are heading towards a more sustainable economic path, while remaining competitive. I also remember that we won the second star and that Inter is the only Milan team to have it“.
