The current ownership of the Devil does not leave, in fact it doubles: at least until 2028. But not everyone had a good time with social media literally unleashed on the subject.
Team that doesn't win doesn't change. At least until 2028 Milan is intended to maintain the same property. In fact, it is news at the moment that theagreement between RedBird with Gerry Cardinale and Elliott at the helm for the extension of the loan deadline until July 2028. The ownership has reduced the debt towards Paul Singer's fund, to the delight of the current management and president Scaroni. Less enthusiasm, however, is among the fans who appear rather skeptical.
Milan's statement in the sign of continuity
Il Milan remains in the hands of RedBird and Gerry Cardinale. This was announced by the Rossoneri club itself, which communicated the reduction of the debt and the postponement of the deadline for repayment of the total sum to July 2028 (the current deadline was set for August 2025). This is the official version of the Devil:
“AC Milan informed today (Friday 20 December, ed.) that a refinancing of the Vendor Loan held by vehicles managed by Elliott Advisors UK Limited (“Elliott”) has been completed. Refinancing with Elliott, in its sole position as a lender, includes a further investment of 170 million euros by AC Milan's owners, RedBird Capital (“RedBird”)which reduces the principal amount of the loan to 489 million euros, with maturity now set for July 2028“.
Scaroni's official position
Then there was the following on the sidelines of the press release note from the club president Paolo Scaroni, who declared himself deeply satisfied: “Over the last few years AC Milan's financial position has steadily grown and strengthened under the leadership of RedBird, an owner with long-term commitment – the words of the Devil's number one -. Significant work has been carried out to ensure the stability of our iconic club, position it for sustainable operational success and nurture the Rossoneri's legacy, tradition and values“.
As seen by the fans: discouragement prevails
The moment that Paulo Fonseca's team is experiencing inevitably weighs on the morale of the fans. The latter appear literally disheartened by the news of RedBird's confirmationso much so that many have attacked the current ownership on social media. “Milan is officially dead“, says one user.
The post from another Rossoneri supporter is more elaborate but equally effective: “Milan with Cardinale is part of a fund that occasionally plays football. As a fan, given that with this management it is impossible to think of sporting victories, Red Bird's farewell will be like a championship or a Champions League. Each of their flops will be one more step towards their farewell“.
Another fan's opinion is even more structured: “It was clear that with the arrival of the Americans at Inter they would do Chip and Dale with Cardinale. Team in the hands of 2 hedge funds. They split the expense for the stadium and profit when they resell Milan and Inter“. Many comments, however, simply cannot be quoted even if the mood is truly black among those who have Milan in their hearts.
