On Wednesday alone, 12 newborns, 11 females and one male, in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. As of December 17, 2,413 children have come to the hospital at the Arcispedale, a number already higher than last year.
REGGIO EMILIA – Record number of births at Santa Maria Nuova. From Monday to Thursday they came to light well 34 newborns and in particular 12 children were born on Wednesday.
The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Santa Maria Nuova worked at full speed to cope with this boom in births and everything went well. Of Wednesday's 12 newborns, 11 are girls and 1 is a boy. As of 17 December 2024, 2,413 children were born in the Obstetrics Department of the Reggio Emilia Hospital and at the beginning of December there were already 57 more than in the same period in 2023.
“We are today the third Center for number of births at a regional level and the first center in the Region for assistance with breech births which is offered to mothers who wish it – commented the Dr. Lorenzo Aguzzoli, director of the department – Italy has the lowest birth rate in Europe and consequently this can only be a sign to rejoice about”.
