CAMPI BISENZIO Nine thousand euros for the new wings of the Teatrodante Carlo Monni. It is the figure that the Rotary Foundation (7,000 euros, drawing on the so-called ‘Disaster Fund’) and the Rotary Club Bisenzio Le Signe (2,000 euros) have made available to Accademia dei Perseveranti Foundation to equip the theater with brand new wings which thus replace the old ones, which were over twenty years old but above all had been flooded. In fact, they were in the warehouses awaiting repairs when water and mud brought Campi to its knees in November 2023.
This is not the first project that unites the two realities, given that Rotary had already contributed to the ‘restart’ of the ‘Little Library’, forced to move inside the theater due to the damage caused by the flood at Villa Montalvo. Yesterday afternoon, almost a year after the idea of doing something for the Campigian community was born, the reopening of the wings in the presence of the director of the Accademia dei Perseveranti FoundationSandra Gesualdi, of the president of Rotary Club Bisenzio Le SigneAntonio Cambi, and the deputy mayor Federica Petti. Words and emotions those that the moment generated, remembering in particular the conditions the theater was in twelve months ago. Together with them, for the Rotary FoundationRaimondo Perodi Ginanni and Chiara Pagni, while the past president, Elisabetta Benvenuti, illustrated the motivations from which the project was born.
“This is a particularly important service which the Foundation has supported significantly. In the days following the flood, when the devastation was there for all to see – explains Benvenuti – we immediately asked ourselves, thanks to the professionalism of our members, what we could do to help the Campigian community recover.” And if initially the intention was to think about rearranging the lights, then the choice, also because the theater season had to restart, fell on the wings.
“We are proud of it – said Gesualdi –, the theatre, with all the activities it hosts, has become a nerve center in the life of Campi, but also of the entire metropolitan area. I thank Rotary who immediately came to our aid, when we were still with our feet in the mud.” Deputy Mayor Petti also reiterated this, underlining “the availability and sensitivity shown towards us. Rotary immediately understood what the motivations behind the work undertaken by the municipal administration and Accademia dei Perseveranti Foundation and what our vision of the city is”. With the confirmation that the stage was a successful bet, but also that the collaborative projects are destined to continue in the future.
