Dominique Pelicot was sentenced to the maximum sentence, 20 years in prison, for aggravated rape, for the violence committed against his ex-wife Gisèle over ten years. The president of the Vaucluse criminal court found all 51 defendants guilty.
Dominique Pelicot convicted of all the crimes he was accused of
Dominique Pelicot was found guilty of having raped and sedated his ex-wife without her knowledge and subjected her to rape by dozens of strangers for ten years. The man was convicted of all the crimes he was accused of, from the aggravated rapes against Gisèle, to attempted rape and aggravated rape against the wife of a co-defendant. Pelicot was also found guilty of filming sexual images involving his daughter Caroline and her former daughters-in-law.
51 men on trial: all convicted
None of Dominique Pelicot’s co-defendants were acquitted. In total, 51 men were accused in the trial: 49 of them were convicted of aggravated rape together with Pelicot, and one of sexual assault. A man was accused of raping and having his wife raped several times by Dominique, after having put her to sleep with the same method and for this he was included in the same trial: he was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Prosecutors had asked for 17 years for him. Most of them are found guilty of “aggravated rape in a meeting and administration” of drugs to Gisèle Pelicot.
«Light punishments», the disappointment of Gisèle’s children
Gisèle Pelicot’s children say they are “disappointed” by the sentences inflicted on the 51 defendants in the Mazan rape trial. «The children are disappointed by these light penalties» comments a member of the Pelicot family, who asked to remain anonymous, quoted by Agence France Presse.

Dominique “took note” of the criminal court’s sentence of Vaucluse. His lawyer Béatrice Zavarro stated this. “We will take advantage of the ten-day deadline given to us to decide whether we will appeal against this sentence,” added the lawyer. The French broadcaster Bfmtv reports it.
