THE MATCH
With 4 goals at half-time and 2 in the second half, Atalanta easily beat Cesena 6-1 in the round of 16 of the Italian Cup in Bergamo, reaching the quarter-finals where they faced Bologna. Zappacosta and De Ketelaere close the game at regular intervals within the first 8 minutes, Samardzic and the Belgian himself round off within the first half. Upon returning to the field, Brescianini and Samardzic again for the hosts and Ceesay in the ninetieth for the guests. The Nerazzurri immediately scored on the first two occasions. In the 4th minute the left side extends for De Ketelaere who passes the ball to Djimsiti, who does well to pass it back to Zappacosta who opens the right dish into the far corner. In the 8th minute, however, it was Retegui who passed it back to the Flemish player who slipped past the opposing goalkeeper.

The Romagna players emerged into the area in the quarter of an hour with captain Cioffi lifting the second ball from the first corner with his left foot for his team. The next attempt on a free kick by Bastoni from the right midfield at half an hour didn’t hurt either, finishing high and won by Tavsan who forced Djimsiti to get a yellow card. Samardzic, in fact, had already scored the third of his three minutes earlier at the conclusion of the long triangle with Pasalic, who supported the moving penalty from the left side of the area which soared behind Pisseri from Pieraccini’s sliding deflection. The Serbian, after the opportunities of Retegui and Zappacosta, saved for a corner by the Cesena goalkeeper, also starts the duet with Retegui who returns it to him to open De Ketelaere’s left-footed turn, which ends up in the bag after hitting the inside post. The second half began with protests from Kargbo for a hold in the area by De Roon in the 4th minute and with a five from Brescianini, who had just come on with Zaniolo: the Dutchman was brought down by Bastoni and touched the free kick in the area for Toloi who time misses the midfielder’s left foot. Gasperini gives a standing ovation to the debutant between the posts Rui Patricio and his replacement Rossi, 4′ from the 90th minute, comes out to remove the ball served by Curto from the right onto the head of Ceesay, who then scores the goal anyway with a diagonal right-footed shot of the flag on the counterattack finished by Francesconi.
