Joke with the infantry and leave the saints alone. This was not the case on the night between December 16th and 17th between Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni (Brindisi), where some statues depicting Padre Pio, the Madonna and Jesus Christ disappeared in the short stretch that connects Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni. Theft of sacred images: an act still to be clarified and deciphered. Who’s angry with the saints and why?
The fact is that someone stole a statue of Saint Pio from a private residence near the Ceglie cemetery. A coup carried out in the early hours of the morning of Tuesday 17 December. What would they have done with that statue? And above all, what will the thieves do with two other statues that they took possession of in Ostuni on the same night? It seems that the statue stolen shortly before in Ceglie Messapica was left here in exchange for two other simulacra: that of the Madonna and that of Jesus.
Thefts shrouded in mystery.
Meanwhile, the police are investigating. In particular, two hooded men are being sought for the theft of the statue of Padre Pio, which was later replaced with the others. The two episodes seem to be connected, because the first statue that disappeared from Ceglie appears to be the same one found in Ostuni, in the countryside on the border with Cisternino. Padre Pio left in place of the Madonna and the Lord. Something cryptic, occult or maybe just crazy. It will be up to the carabinieri of the Ceglie Messapica and Ostuni stations to try to clarify the crime.
