OpenAI launches the challenge to the giant Google, and does so with SearchGpt, the search engine inside the ChatGpt chatbot that can carry out searches on the internet, with updated information based on user searches. Presented in July and launched in October only for subscribed users, it is now available to everyone for free. The novelty is part of the company’s Advent calendar, which consists, in fact, of 12 days of pre-Christmas announcements.
The ChatGpt search engine
The search engine is innovative, because instead of the classic links returned by traditional search engines, SearchGpt answers questions in a more informal way, with a text to which the sources from which it took the results are attached. It is available both on the app and on the desktop and the search icon is the world one.
The addition of this functionality “gives ChatGpt the ability to access information in real time and, of course, search for answers on the Internet – explains Kevin Weil, director of product at OpenAI -. We are making the ChatGpt experience easier to know thanks to updated information from the web, we distribute it to hundreds of millions of users”.
OpenAI has announced that users will be able to use the search mode even while communicating with ChatGpt – with the advanced voice function not accessible in all countries – and that it is implementing a system to speed up the search for some types of sites, such as those for hotel bookings.
