A bolt from the blue has struck Chelsea: playmaker Mykhailo Mudryk he in fact tested positive for anti-doping following a test carried out in October after a match played against the English team. The indiscretion coming from Ukraine was confirmed by Chelsea this morning: “Chelsea Football Club can confirm that the Football Association recently contacted our player Mykhailo Mudryk regarding an abnormal result during a routine urine test.
The club and Mykhailo fully support the FA’s testing program and all our players, including Mykhailo, are tested regularly. Mykhailo categorically denied knowingly using banned substances. Mykhailo and the club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what caused the abnormal result. The club will make no further comment.”
The footballer himself confirmed the news with a post on Instagramin which he declares that he has never knowingly taken prohibited substances.
As also written in Mudryk’s post, the FA has decided to temporarily suspend the player.
