SpaceX's Starbase is located in Boca Chica, not far from Brownsville, Texas, on the east coast of the United States, and close to the Mexican border. This launch base is renowned worldwide, because it is here that the Starship rockets are designed and launched, a symbol of the space ambition of SpaceXSpaceX. In an effort to support the expansion of its operations, the company plans to transform this space base into a new city. A few days ago, Elon Musk officially requested local authorities to consider this proposal. A petition is also circulating among residents and SpaceX employees residing on the site.

Currently, more than 3,400 employees and contractors work full-time at the Starbase site, according to a local impact study released earlier this year. However, there are concerns about SpaceX's expansion, particularly regarding environmental impact. Groups such as Save RGV have filed lawsuits against the company for potential environmental violations, highlighting a conflict between economic development and environmental protection.
