It is a tragedy whose conditions are still very vague which took place on Saturday December 14 in the evening, in Isle (Haute-Vienne). The body of a 15-year-old girl, named Inès, was found lifeless there during the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Limoges prosecutor’s office confirmed to AFP on Sunday evening, confirming information from “Populaire du Centre” and RMC. Here is what we know about this drama.
The unfolding of the facts
The young Inès, 15 years old, lived in Isle, a town of 8,000 inhabitants located in the suburbs of Limoges, a large city in which she was educated in 3rd grade at the Maryse-Bastié college-high school. She was in contact with a boy on the social network Snapchat with whom she had a meeting on Friday. This Friday, December 13 evening, Inès’ family reported her disappearance on social networks with her photo.
The information is then more fragmented: her lifeless body was found in a wooded area of Isle, stabbed to death, during the night from Saturday to Sunday. “There is no question of rape at all,” clarified the Limoges public prosecutor, Emilie Abrantes, interviewed by France Bleu Limousin.
A 15-year-old suspect admits the facts
A teenager was taken into custody for murder, a source close to the prosecution told AFP. In front of the cameras, the Limoges prosecutor, Emilie Abrantes, delivered the first elements of the investigation this Monday, December 16. “This 15-year-old teenager, unknown to the police and justice services, was first heard as a witness,” said the public prosecutor according to the France 3 editorial team.
How did investigators manage to trace the trail leading to this 15-year-old young man? In reality, it was those close to Inès who managed to identify her contacts on Snapchat. “If he initially denied his involvement, he was placed in police custody at 8:45 p.m., and the suspect finally admitted to being involved in the death of Inès,” said Emilie Abrantes.
In his version of the facts, he would have spoken with Inès on the bus on several occasions, and would have interacted with her on social networks in the week preceding the death. Likewise, the two young people had “agreed to meet her on Friday the 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the bus stop located near the town’s judo hall”, according to the prosecutor.
She continues by specifying that “around 1 a.m., during the night from Saturday to Sunday, it was he who led the investigators to the scene of the discovery of the teenage girl’s body in an undergrowth and that he also indicated where the knife was hidden near a rock near the body.”
An autopsy will be performed this Tuesday morning to find out more about his injuries. “The first findings show several defense lesions and wounds under the left breast and on the back,” said the prosecutor. At the Maryse-Bastié middle and high school in Limoges, a psychological unit has been set up. A prize pool has been put online and has already collected nearly 7,000 euros. It was the parents of the young schoolgirl who raised the alarm on Friday evening, Inès not returning home and not giving her news.
